Over the past years, it has become increasingly accessible to get a marketing job abroad. Regardless of the area, working in another country is a great opportunity for your professional growth.

In order to make it easier for those who share the dream of living abroad and having this experience, we set some essential aspects you need to know to work in Marketing anywhere in the world. Here they are:

1. Be fluent in English

The first aspect, and one of the most important, is that wherever you decide to live, you need to be fluent in English because this will make it easier to be approved for your temporary visa.

This is why the certification exam is so important. The main ones, which are recognised internationally, are TOEFL and IELTS, as they are accepted in more than 130 countries.

2. Research the demand in each country

Something that will help you choose where to go is research on Google about the most demanded professions in each country you consider as an option and whether it includes Marketing work. You can find a list of professions that are in short supply in the country, which is something that counts on your visa approval in addition to increasing the chances of getting a job position.

3. Talk to people who have already had this experience

Meeting and talking to people who have already had the experience of getting a marketing job abroad can be very helpful. To do this, look for groups on social networks such as Facebook or LinkedIn specific to this topic and ask any questions you may have. It is also a great way to network.

4. Save money

The first few months living in another country can be very difficult, financially speaking. Therefore, save a reserve of money that will help you for at least the first three months. This way, you can focus on your goal of getting a job without worrying about debt.

How to get a work visa?

The process of obtaining a visa in another country is usually a bit bureaucratic. Some countries are much stricter than others and the process can take time. Therefore, the first tip is: be patient!

Although it changes according to each country, in general, for your work visa you will need: the employment contract, the employer’s statement specifying your duties, the period you intend to stay in the country, the place of accommodation and the company references, in addition to proof of income.

You may also have the opportunity to go abroad with a student visa which, in many countries, also allows you to alternate working hours.

Another way to work in Marketing abroad is through a visa called Working Holiday: foreigners aged 18 to 30 can live in the country for a maximum of 1 year. Or you can search for affiliated companies in Brazil and then be transferred to the country of the parent company.

Most people who choose Ireland do so because of how easy it is! The student visa allows you to work 20 hours per week during school term and 40 hours per week during holidays. Holding a stamp 2, which lasts 8 months, means you can study and work under the condition you are enrolled in an English course and it can be renewed three times.

The other possibility offered by the country is the critical skills, a work permit whose objective is to attract high skilled professionals to live and work in the Ireland market.

The minimum wage in Ireland is also attractive as it is one of the highest in the Euro currency. It was increased in January/2023 to €11,3 per hour. However, the cost of living is also high especially when it comes to residence.

Here, on the official government website you can get more information about many aspects, including with regards to visa and work permit. We also suggest that you read this article explaining the difference between the Irish visas.
