Hi, my name is Camilla Odilon. I am a marketing professional with over 8 years of experience. I currently work as a marketing manager at an Irish B2B company.
I also work as a postgraduate professor of digital marketing remotely for universities in Brazil.
And I founded the Marketing na Irlanda Community in July 2021.
A little about my journey in Ireland:
I came alone, and I arrived here in Ireland on the 25th of January 2020 as an English student and a month and a half later we had the lockdown and that was completely unexpected for everyone, but I was really worried because as I didn’t speak English everything was harder. After 3 months here, my money was gone and I needed to work but I didn’t have job opportunities in my area, so I decided to start working as a cleaner and in that job an idea came to my mind and I created a strategy to go to work at the cleaner position for companies that I saw from my research that would have job opportunities in the marketing area in these places.
So that’s how I got a job at the company I’m currently in the position of marketing manager, I started there as a cleaner and during the 2 months in that role I prepared a marketing plan and presented it to them. I started working part time in marketing until after a few months I was able to work full time because I applied for the critical skills visa.
I created the Marketing na Irlanda community because, like so many other immigrants in Ireland, I felt alone, without information and without any direction as to how it would be possible to get a job in the field of marketing.
Moving abroad is challenging! When we leave Brazil and move to Ireland, many feel lost and cannot find work easily in the field of marketing or communication.
Unfortunately, job opportunities for non-European immigrants are small and I want to have the opportunity to change this scenario through the Marketing na Irlanda community.
